10 IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT R/C RACING

  1.  HAVE FUN Racing is a form of entertainment.  Its purpose is for enjoyment. Always remember this!
  2. NEVER GIVE UP  If a Racer quits midway through a race he or she will never have a chance to win.
  3.  If you wreck lost time is lost time.  There is no making it up, so don't try to drive faster than the cornering power of your car will allow.  Over driving your car to make up lost time will only make you wreck more, putting you even farther behind.
  4.  If a racer is not in 100% control of a vehicle he or she is not driving as fast as is possible with that vehicle.  Most of the time slowing down in the turns will make you go faster!
  5.  Well maintained equipment provides for more consistent results.  More consistent results provide better overall performance.  You will steadily improve if you concentrate on becoming more consistent.
  6.  Tires  A vehicles tires are what connects it with the ground.  This makes TIRES the most important part of a vehicle.  If your tires are not in good condition it will show in your vehicles performance.
  7.  Suspension  A vehicles suspension controls how often the tires stay connected with the ground.  The more often the tires are on the ground the better.  (there are also many other things that a vehicles suspension does)
  8.  Observe other racers  Watch and take notes on where and why other racers are faster than you.
  9.  This  is important enough to be 8 and 9 on the list.  Watch and learn from the better racers at the track.  Go as far as walking onto the track and watch other cars in specific turns.  You will be surprised how much you can learn and tune your car just by watching other peoples cars.
Last Thing.  Notice that NOT ONE of the 10 important things has anything to do with a bigger faster motor!  A bigger faster motor will SLOW you down until you can drive your car consistently.  By consistently, I mean, you can run 5 minutes hitting every turn within 6 inches of the same spot every lap.
